A historical narrative of the collision between the USS Arizona and the Maury Island purse seiner Umatilla off Cape Flattery, Washington. In the collision two crew members, Lauritz Halsan and John Usorac die. The Umatilla is crewed by the sons of Norwegian and Croatian immigrants. Captain Macguillvray Milne who was at the tiller when the collision occurred was ordered to stand court martial by a Navy Board of Inquiry. Milne was found guilty of Culpable Inefficiency in the Performance of Duty. The story centers around the Halsan family. Adolf the father emigrated from the Halsfjord region of Nordland, Norway. His sons Arnold and Lauritz were aboard the Umatilla.
