Hamish Howl can't quite remember how he became a gumshoe, nor how or when he hired his assistant, Friday. He's been hired to solve a murder in a world that's a mash-up of Studebakers and hovertanks. To top it all off, it seems that God wants him dead. But Friday is on the case.
