Clement Clarke Moore (1779-1863) — was an Amercian scientist working in the fields of Ancient and Oriental literature and the Divinity Learning. He was a professor at the General Theological Seminary. Although Clement Moore did not persue a career in writing, he is supposed to be the author of the little Christmas poem 'A Visit from St. Nicholas'.
The first publication of the poem in 1823 was anonymous but later in 1837 Clement Moore acknowledged authorship. This little poem is about St. Nicholas — the predessesor of Santa Claus. And that means the the story tells us about the Christmas Eve, a white-bearded man, presents in stockings, and eight reindeer.
